Spend a little time in Rantepao and see handwoven ikat textiles being created at Todi Weaving Shop (Jalan Pembangunan No. 19). This is a women's co-op designed to bring the cloths of isolated village.
Toko suvenir khas Toraja di kota Rantepao.
For Ikat fabrics, there is a big museum-cum-shop in the Rantepao market. Todi Shop is easy to miss, since it looks like just another small stall in the market, but go up the stairs at the back and you'll find a large room with demonstration looms and fabrics on display from all over Sulawesi.
Sells high-quality ikat, wood carvings and Torajan crafts. Prices are quite high, but some bargaining is possible.
Woodcarving and weaving are the main crafts, though quality ikat is rare. Todi Weaving Shop, Jalan Pembangunan No 19 Rantepao has jewellery, textiles and woodcarving.
Splendid Toraja clothes and other stuff for a very small price!
The Todi' store in town (which is well worth a visit) usually has a weaving demonstration running. Todi' has some nice ikat for sale, mainly from the Kalumpang area (which is also where Threads of Life's Sulawesi ikat comes from, which can be seen at their store in Ubud, Bali). Todi' has more examples than Threads of Life, but the quality is more variable and you need to take time to look at pieces carefully.
